BOVEY TRACEY ACUPUNCTURE PRACTICE

Chie Nakatani LicAc, MBAcC

Bovey Tracey Acupuncture Practice is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac only a few minutes walk from the centre of popular moorland town of Bovey Tracey. The purpose built treatment room is within a tranquil garden full of unusual and rare plants from around the world.

Chie grew up in the rural mountains of Japan and has lived in the UK since 1987. She started training in Shiatsu in 1990 with Ronald Kelly OMD who was the first ever Westerner to be granted a license to practice Acupuncture in Japan in the 1970's. She then went on to study Acupuncture with Tinh Thong Nyugen at London Academy of Oriental Medicine, and then studied at the London College of Traditional Acupuncture, graduating in 1998 with a licence to practice Acupuncture.

Her style of treatment is often described as 'gentle and unique'. Having trained in Shiatsu prior to Acupunture, Chie uses a 'hands on' approach, combining the two therapies in a session. Patients often find the treatments incredibly relaxing and painless.

Chie is a member of the BAcC (British Acupuncture Council).

COVID -19 SECURE PRACTICE

Bovey Tracey Acupuncture Practice will reopen on 4th July 2020, in line with current guidelines provided by the British Acupuncture Council.

In order to minimise the risk of further spread of Covid-19, Chie will be strictly adhering to guidelines laid out by both the government and the British Acupuncture Council.

It is important that the practice remains a safe and relaxing space, so measures including pre-screening of symptoms, facemasks and hand sanitising are in place to help protect each patient. Appointments will be scheduled to allow thorough disinfection between each visit

Please do not hesitate to get in touch for further details on the new guidelines.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for over 2000 years. Its theory is based upon the belief that life force energy, Qi, runs through systems of meridians within the body, to maintain ones well being. By inserting fine Acupuncture needles into specific points, we can stimulate the body's own healing process and restore the natural balance of Qi.

SHIATSU

Shiatsu is the form of massage developed in Japan around the turn of the last Century. Shiatsu literally means 'finger pressure' which is applied to Acupuncture points along the meridian. Some stretching, stroking and tapping techniques are also used during treatment. I often finish an Acupuncture treatment with a short session of Shiatsu as done in my native country, Japan.

MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion uses a herb called Mugwort, which is fashioned into a cone or a stick to warm Acupuncture points. The warming sensation is very pleasant and warms the channels and relaxes muscular tension. Some scientific studies show that after Moxibustion, the white blood cell count is increased which suggests it contributes to boosting the immune system.
